MOMMY KNOW'S BEST>LUTONG BAHAY

Welcome to my food tripping lutong bahay mommy know's best?I cooked for my family everyday....but sometimes take away is the best easy option that i have.Here are some of my easy lutong bahay recipe that i will share for you. Start to this seabass fish sambal,for your info.you can used any kind of fish you want: after you clean the fish heat the oil in the pan and deep fried it,set aside when you done.For the rest ingredients you will need red chili,1pc.onion,2 gloves of garlic,small ginger,tamarind paste diluted into a water if you dont have tamarind paste you can always substitute it with lime or lemon juice,2tsp.of sugar,oil,and coriander for garnishing.Then put all this ingr.in a blender,when you noticed that it start turning to a paste then that is your sambal,we go to next step: in a wok or pan heat some oil and then add the sambal paste that you blend,wait for 5minutes till you will noticed that sambal sauce starting to become thick,then add some salt for taste and its time to add the fish that you fried earlier,stir it well so that the sambal sauce will cover the fish...and thats it here is your seabass fish sambal originally a malaysian dish.

 CHICKEN CURRY WITH PINEAPPLE,POTATO,@ND SULTANA(RAISINS)
Ingredients:
Cleaned pieces of chicken
chicken masala powder 5tbs
slice 1pc.onion
garlic
ginger
tomato 2pcs.
chili
curry leaves(optional)
mustard seed
oil
Here are the cooking instructions,heat 3tbsp.oil in a pan add the mustard seed and let it splutter,add sliced onion,ginger,garlic,tomato and green chili or red,and the curry leaves sautee it well.Then mixed chicken masala powder with a little bit of water to form a paste sautee well,then add the chicken pieces,salt and a little water mixed it well cover and cooked it in a low flame till the gravy become thick.....then its ready to served?

 BANANA CAKE
3pcs.ripe banana
2eggs
2 cups self raising flour sifted
1tsp.baking powder
1cup of fresh milk

First feel the banana,put it in a bowl,and start mashing it,add the 2 eggs,flour,baking powder and a cup of fresh milk,then mixed it all together till it smooth,note you can always use electric mixer if you want....and then you ready to transfer it into a baking tins and bake it for 20 to 30mins....and thats my own easy version of banana cake,isn't it so simple enjoy making it.

 

And last but not the least a pinoy version of

TAHONG OR MUSSELS GINGER SOUP:

You will need a kilo of mussels or tahong,ginger,onion,garlic,oil and chicken knorr cubes for taste.Then heat your wok add the oil ginger,garlic onion and add 3cups of water and kapag kumulo na ang water then you can start adding the mussels or tahong and the knorr chicken cubes for taste and just make sure that you dont over cooked the mussels because the taste will be different sea shells are very tasty but if we over cooked it then it start to taste like a rubber so i hoped you enjoy my food tripping lutong bahay mommy know's best....enjoy cooking.

FOOD FAIR/MUSIC/ART/CRAFT/@nd JEWELRIES

Welcome to Glor food fair,march 17th 2011 the same celebration of st.patrick day,last year food tripper was in rowan cafe,and this year my friend ton tell me about this food fair at the glor.We all meet up in town with toni rose family,her mum in law,angel and sinead,and ofcoarse me and my two kiddoz.
 St.Patrick parade was ok a lot of people on that day,eventhough the weather is cold.After the parade we decided to check out whats the food fair like so we went to glor and when we reach there it was very busy,the whole area was covered of people....and the cafe was fully occupied by all this people having a lunch and enjoying thier meal.


We all decided to have our lunch in thier because kids
 are hungry,we just waited for a while to find available
 table and then we got it.All the mummy's went to the
 counter and order food,they dont have much choices
 but if your hungry you can just tuck in whatever it is.

We order seafood chowder with brown soda bread,a
 spaghetti bolognese,and a chicken voulevant with a
 side of roast potato and a side salad.And coke @
 sprite for drinks,surprisengly the portion of each meal
 was really a great valued for money...kids couldn't even

 finish their food,over all meal was fantastic we all enjoy

 it and worth it waiting for a table.

After the meal we look around taking some pics.of what glor can offer,i took the picture of some art they have, a set of a wooden table and chair, a handcrafted assorted base,a knitted scarf and hat,and a variety of jewelries.Me and my friend ton actually take some photo with those display since taking picture is allowed.

After that picture taking we went to a new park just around town,for kids to enjoy and to bond,all though they see each other every day in school but is different when they were outside.Kind of disappointed really when we reach there because,that park area is supposed to be for just toddler,and kids with mummy's looking after them,but instead all this teenagers was all in there,,,,,,we just stay there for maybe half in hour,and then we all walk back to the town.Ton decided to send the kids home while we mummy's are going for a coffee break at bb's,we had a lot of topic when we seat down and relaxing,a laugh,a romantic story about cat fish that is very relating to normal ordinary people.Having a coffee lattee with a caramel muffin each of usis just melting in your mouth..

chicken voulevant,with a nice company with friends,angel,toni rose,tita arsey and me with eoife at glor cafe.

Kiddoz enjoying their meal,while chatting to each other,they really enjoy this day with lots of fun and another year experience of st.patrick day.

The amazing,beautiful wooden table and chairs such a talented person who ever created this well done.Below was an irish concert held in glor as well,they actually a lot of going on event in glor as you can see all the pics.in here.

FOOD @ND DRINK TRIPPING WITH FRIENDS

Food and drinks are the highlights of entertaining,friends for all such occassions like birthday's,anniversary etc.This was a most memorable day in my life,not to mention something terribly happened,thank you god that i have a friends who always there for me,to gave me advice,to understand,to comfort me at all times whenever i need them and most of all to lean on whenever im down.A family that accept me for who i am,the kids that loved me at all times,a husband that understand,and always there for me.

A family of four with my hubby,azria my daughter,khairyl my son and ofcoarse me the mummy,this was taken at the day of my bday last year and another year of getting older,they say's age is only a number,but deep inside we feel younger and younger.

    Toni rose a friend of mine,who always there for me,an amazing friend that we both have lots in common like eating,travel and ofcoarse lots of bonding time together,she always there for me for whatever occassions i have? Thank you ton for such a good friend all this years.

This are some of malaysian and filipino cuisine that i prepared for my birthday,just to name a few like chicken chopsuey with quail eggs,malaysian chicken rendang,beef soup,prawn in coconut milk,and sambal chicken.Malaysian food are spicy,and even some of filipino food is spicy as well but some of the people dont appreciated spicy food,i just make sure that its only a little bit or mild heat so that every one will enjoy it.

         Lumpia or spring rolls,my own version of chippon cake or sponge cake,green salad egg fried rice,choco muffin,and a chocolate cake.

A LITTLE PRINCESS TURN 1,ANGEL FABULOUS BIRTHDAY AND THE COMFORT FOOD THAT SHARED WITH FRIENDS.

First birthday is a very special occassion to a parents,family and friends.As sinead amelia turn 1 her parents,family including me as her parents friends are all excited.I know the feelings because i been there,its emotionally un believable happiness that couldn't explain.I am so proud for you angel for being such a wonderful mother,looking at sinead growing up so fast and in good health is your pride as a mum.Her 1st bday is totally amazing,aside from the food you prepared,i just dont know how you do it yourself most specially the games you prepared for the kids that all of them shared and enjoy....Sinead look so pretty on that day,she is like a doll dressed in pink with lovely real blush on her face,i know how proud you are?I enjoy a lot being with your family specially the laugh that we all shared everytime we all gathered together wish you all the best sinead and looking forward for the 2nd birthday to come.

This is custard cake for angel birthday,is layerd with sponge cake and custard on the top of it with boudoir sponge finger on the side of it,and some icing cream made with egg whites and sugar. heres the recipe for the custard cake:  FOR THE CARAMEL you need 1 cup granulated sugar.
                      CUSTARD:
                      6 eggs    (white and yolks separetaed)
                      1 can condensed milk
                      1 cup fresh milk
                      1/4 cup granulated sugar

                      FOR THE CAKE:
                      1 tsp.baking powder
                      1/4 cup milk
                      1/4 cup cold water/diluted in a milk
                      1tsp.lemon grind
                       6 egg yolks
                       1/2 cup granulated sugar
                       11/2 cup flour sifted

                      FOR THE MERINGUE:
                      6 egg whites
                      1/2 tsp.cream of tartar
                      1/2 cup granulated sugar
 And just follow step by step untill you completed everything,its a little hard maybe for those of you havent try to make it,but im assure you once you got it right you will enjoy making the second one,its a lovely and yummy dessert or for tea time or for whatever occassions you have...is just really up to you to put some decoration or topping on it to look more delicious,but if you want it simple you can just served it on its own.

This are PUTO,as you can see some are with toasted coconut and this is just optional,if you dont like it you can always used cheedar cheese as a topping,for me i just fancy a toasted coconut on it as an additional taste,there is a plain puto,yellow and green they were all the same ingredients i just devided the mixture and add some food coloring on it.

Here are the ingredients of

 BUTTERED PUTO:

4 cups flour sifted,2 cup sugar,21/2 tbsp.baking powder,1 cup evap milk,21/2 cup water,1/2 cup butter melted,2 pcs.egg,cheese for topping,food coloring (optional)

FISHY FISH SHARING

Once upon last summer my polish coligue went fishing with her friends,and she promised me that if they catch some fish and they will gave me one.Later that afternoon she called me to come over in her place to get and choose the fish i like,i actually rush to go there and kind of excited,but when i reach her place i was totally shock to see all the big fish lying in the floor because they dont have the proper bucket to put everything in one place.I am not familiar of all the fish they caught,they have a few names of it but it was called by their own language,but then i dont have a choice is to grab some fish and go home.And here you go the fish im holding sorry but i dont know exactly what it called,she gave me two big one and i dont know what to do with it,and thanks god i have a friends that i can share it with,i started to cut it and slice so that it easy to share it with ton and angel and thanks god thaty they both like the fish,and to be honest it taste wonderful specially the head that i make sinigang is a sour soup.The flesh of this fish is so white and meaty,it is good for deep fried and sweet and sour,i just dont have the photo's of it but its worth trying some different dishes using this kind of fish.The memorable part of it are the most wonderful people who share the catch with me,i still remember the very kind person who share this fish to me,thanks a lot martha and  i would like you to know that god will bless you for your kindness to others.Goodluck to you and to your baby soon,and enjoy being a mummy.
